Poorly Organized TS Ida Continues Slowing Down

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Tropical Storm Ida has grown more disorganized and lost some strength as it continues slowing down in the open Atlantic Ocean.

At 11 p.m. the center of the system was about 915 miles east-northeast of the Northern Leeward Islands. It was moving to the north-northwest at 5 mph with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph.

A slow eastward or east-southeastward motion is forecast into Wednesday morning.

A turn toward the north-northeast with a substantial decrease in forward speed is expected Monday night and early on Tuesday.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
