Hollywood Offers Sandbags Ahead Of Erika

HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) -- The city of Hollywood is offering residents free sandbags as Tropical Storm Erika may hit Florida next week.
Staff with the Department of Public Works will have more than 2,400 sandbags ready to pass out to Hollywood residents with a proof of residency. They will also be there to help load the bags.
Each household is allowed a maximum of 10 sandbags.
The distribution is set for Friday from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Public Works Administration Complex at 1600 South Park Road.

The bags will be handed out on a first come first served basis.
The move comes as forecast models showed Florida was within Erika's five-day cone of error. Florida residents are urged to monitor the storms track and plan accordingly.
