Danny Continues Weakening As It Nears Leeward Islands

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Danny continues to weaken as it moves towards the east and the Leeward Islands will feel Tropical Storm conditions by Sunday night.
At 11:00 a.m., the center of the storm was located about 165 miles east-southeast of Guadeloupe and 210 miles east-southeast of Antigua. Maximum sustained winds have reduced to 40 mph with higher gusts.
Slow weakening continues to be the forecast over the next 48 hours.
Danny is moving toward the west near 16 mph and is expected to move west to northwest over the next 48 hours.
On this forecast track, the center of Danny will move near or over parts of the Leeward Islands late Sunday night or early Monday morning, and into the northeastern Caribbean Sea on Monday afternoon.
Danny's Tropical Storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the center.
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Antigua, Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Anguilla. A Tropical Storm Watch is still in effect for Saba and St. Eustatius, St. Maarten, Puerto Rico, Vieques, Culebra and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
