MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting in Miami.

It happened in the lobby of an apartment building on NE 26th Street at Biscayne Boulevard.

“Sometime after 3 a.m. there was an argument and we have an individual that was shot on the scene,” said police Commander Freddie Cruz.

Police said the man who died was in his 20s. A perimeter was set up to find the suspected shooter but the search came up empty.

They said violent incidents in this are unusual and residents should be aware.

“It’s still a puzzle we’re trying to piece together. It’s very uncommon, we haven’t had a homicide in this area for a very long time, so this is concerning for us,” said Cruz.
