Man's Body Washed Ashore Near Jetties By Port Everglades Entrance

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) - A death investigation is underway after a body was found floating near the shoreline of Fort Lauderdale beach.

A woman out for a walk on the southernmost point of Fort Lauderdale beach around 7:30 a.m. spotted the man's body near the jetties by the entrance to Port Everglades.

"I just came down from the building to relax in the sun. The police were standing around. There was a body on the shore," said Carol Price who lives nearby.

Price said she's hoping to learn more about what lead up to the death.

"It's kind of creepy, honestly, but surprising also," she said.

Fort Lauderdale police said the man appeared to be in his 40s. They are not calling it suspicious at this time because they don't know how the man died.
