Police Continue Investigating After Teen Is Shot & Killed On Miami Gardens Street

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Miami Gardens police have identified the man shot dead on Northwest 203rd Street early Tuesday as 19-year-old Cedric Rolle Jr.

Tuesday afternoon police were going door to door passing out Crime Stoppers flyers with Rolle's face.

They are asking anyone with information on how and why Rolle was shot to contact police.

Rolle was found in the street at the corner of Northwest 203rd Street and 36th Court just before 5 a.m. Tuesday.

"I heard the shots, about five, but I didn't know where they came from," said Muhummad Hasin.

Other neighbors say just prior to the shooting, there were a series of car break-ins in the neighborhood, but police won't say whether the break-ins are connected to the shooting.

"My girlfriend called me, she said a few shots had rang out. She saw the next door neighbor, a body laying on the floor. And they also tried to break into her car," said Brian Dones.

Dones girlfriend's car had her windows shattered. Felicia Martin lives up the street and two cars at her house were also broken into.

"I came outside to get in my car to go to work. I came outside and I saw the news reporters," she said. "Normally when you see yellow tape you know what that means."

Surveillance video from a house a few doors down shows a person standing by the side of the car, near where the body was, then get in and drive off.

Cookie Williams said Rolle was her nephew.

"He was overall a good kid. Very sweet, very humble, very mannerable," she said.
