Governors Race May Be Heading For Recount As Ballot Counting Continues

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Election Day has come and gone but there are still several key races in Florida that have yet to be decided.
Ron DeSantis claimed victory Tuesday night in Orlando, making plans to be Florida's next governor.
Now the votes are so close, his race could go to a recount.
On Thursday, DeSantis visited a business in Hialeah Gardens. He made a very brief statement about a possible recount saying his plans are not changing.
"We're working hard on the transition," he said. "We'll let the lawyers do that they gotta do, but we're good and I'm looking forward to serving," he said.
Despite making a concession speech Tuesday night, Andrew Gillum released a statement today saying "...it has become clear there are many more uncounted ballots than was originally reported." And "...is monitoring the situation closely and is ready for any outcome, including a state-mandated recount."

On Facebook, he thanked voters and in a video statement said, "Whether it's an absentee vote, whether you voted on Election Day, whether it is a provisional ballot, we want every vote counted."
His supporters are encouraged.
"Everybody's just on pins and needles," said Carrie Alsup. "I guess everyone sort of thought the election was over on Tuesday night."
