MIAMI (CBSMiami) — Miami Police have arrested a man accused of stealing a package from the front porch of a Miami home.

Detectives said Luis Lopez, 21, was seen on a homeowner’s surveillance video on September 6th, at 2919 S.W. 19th Street, walking up to the front porch and grabbing a white package left by the door.

According to the victim, the package contained a brand new pair of shoes.

“The day following the theft, just a block away from the Miami Police Department’s South District Police Station, a man who resembled the thief was spotted by the same officer who initially took the report,” officials wrote in a news release.

It went on to say that the suspect was wearing the same clothes as in the video and had a distinctive tattoo also seen in the video.

Lopez was charged with one count of petit theft and one count of burglary/unoccupied structure.
