HOMESTEAD (CBSMiami) – Police say a driver slammed a car right into the house after stealing that car and leading officers on a chase.

Carmen Goodman says she woke up Thursday morning with quite a start.

Suspects crashed palm trees across a driveway before they smashed into her home and a Goodman had just purchased months ago.

"I was sleeping and heard an explosion," she said. "I thought I was in the middle of a war."

The two suspects bailed out of the vehicle, but a perimeter was established and Homestead police rounded them up quickly.

"Actually one of them had to be taken to the hospital because I heard the K9 tore his arm out," Goodman said.

Homestead police said the men were armed and they found narcotics in the SUV.

Now the hard part: clean up.

Goodman says, to this point, her insurance won't cover the cost of repair. She's hoping people can help out.

The driver is facing a cocaine charge, fleeing and eluding a police officer and grand theft auto. The next stop for him and his accomplice is bond court.
