MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- The family of a 4-year-old found wandering on a Miami street Thursday night came forward Friday afternoon, 19 hours after police picked up the child.

Police say the boy, named David, had no shirt and was only wearing shorts and flip flops when he was spotted in the area of N.E. 2nd Avenue and 49th Street, Thursday.

The next day, David's grandmother and aunt showed up at the Miami Police Dept. to claim the child, according to Rene Pimentel with Miami Police.

But because police have many questions about the child's welfare, he will remain in DCF custody until a court hearing can be held.
