Sigfredo Garcia was arrested in South Florida last week in connection to the July 2014 death of Daniel Markel. Garcia made a brief appearance in court Thursday and his lawyer says he’ll plead not guilty.

The arrest affidavit also says the killing “stemmed from the desperate desire” of Markel’s ex-wife’s family to have Wendi Adelson and the couple’s two children move to South Florida. It does not, however, say who hired the killers.
