PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – A single vehicle accident has claimed the lives of three people and left five others in the hospital.

The accident took place Sunday night on I-75 northbound just south of the Sheridan Street exit.

The vehicle contained a total of eight people, six of which were children ranging in age from 16 months old to nine years old.

The driver, 25-year-old Trevor Carter-Remy, lost control of the vehicle for an undetermined reason and veered into the median where it overturned several times.

At least four of the occupants were ejected.

Carter-Remy was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in critical condition. The other adult passenger, Tiffany Maureen Turnbull, 30, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two of the six children were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The other four children remain in serious condition at Joe Dimaggio Hospital.

Turnbull was the mother of all six children and Carter-Remy is the father of the 16-month-old, who survived.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
