What Is A Hoverboard?

What is a Hoverboard?

A hoverboard is basically a self-balancing electric scooter. There is no pole or handle-bar on the device. Unlike other types of electric boards, the hoverboard has two wheels side by side, allowing the rider to stand facing forward rather than sideways. A hoverboard does not hover, but it does glide on wheels.

How does a Hoverboards move?

Hoverboards are controlled solely by the rider's feet. When the rider leans forward, the board moves forward. When the rider leans backwards, the board slows to a break, and can also reverse. Speed is controlled by two pressure-sensitive pads underneath the rider's feet. Keeping yourself balanced is key to a smooth and steady ride. Hoverboards roughly have a max speed of about 10 miles per hour, so make sure your wearing protective gear if you're still learning to ride.

The best part about hoverboards is that they're portable. You can take them virtually anywhere. Although not allowed on the street, near traffic, or at airports, you can still enjoy exploring the outdoors. Hoverboards run on batteries, so make sure to have yours charged. Avoid keeping your hoverboard plugged in to charge overnight; over charging your board can lead to overheating.
