WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBSMiami) — The president and first lady held a special evening Thursday night at the White House as they hosted the state dinner.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, gave a toast before dinner further cementing the great relationship the U.S. has with its northern neighbor.
Michael J. Fox, Mike Myers and Ryan Reynolds were among the Canadian celebrities in attendance. It was also the first state dinner for first daughters Sasha and Malia Obama.
The two leaders talked of shared goals like combating climate change and protecting the environment.
Trudeau even joked, saying after seven years as Prime Minister, he hopes his “grey hair comes in at a slower rate” than President Obama’s.
But the commander-in-chief got one in himself, mentioning that Trudeau “might well be the most popular Canadian named Justin,” referencing Canadian-born pop star Justin Bieber.
