Detectives say 44-year old Aaron Parrish was killed while his wife and kids slept just steps away.
Friends say at around 1 a.m., Parrish went outside for a smoke in a fenced-in courtyard at his home on NW 31st street and 19th avenue.
Neighbors said they heard about nine gunshots and saw Parrish lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

“Really nice man. Had no problems with nobody,” said family friend Clara Rodriguez.
Friends describe the father of four as a family man and a good dad who kept to himself. They can’t imagine why someone would want to take his life. Police are working to figure that out.
“Something has to be done because this is not the type of person who was a trouble maker. He was a family man. He loved his kids. This doesn’t happen like that,” said Rodriguez.
