MIAMI (CBSMiami) — A car slammed into a child as he headed to school in the city of Weston Monday morning.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies said the child was riding his bike when the car hit him near Pond Ridge Circle and West Ridge Drive.

Rescue crews airlifted the child to Memorial Regional Hospital as a Level 2 injury/transport. This means it was more out of precaution. The child does not have life threatening injuries, BSO said.

The driver remained at the scene. An investigation is underway.
