MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It was a jam-packed black carpet outside the Regal Cinemas South Beach for the world premiere of "Ride Along 2."

It's the sequel to the blockbuster action comedy that launched the pairing of Hollywood's newest and hottest comedy duo: Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.

"This franchise works because of the chemistry between me and Kevin," said Ice Cube, "and the storyline and everyone can relate to a brother hating his sister's fiancé."

This time around, Miami sets the stage as the backdrop for the film as James, played by Cube, and Ben, played by Hart, who are both cops now, come to town to bring a drug dealer down.

The dealer is played by Benjamin Bratt.

"I love being the bad guy. It's fun doing bad things and I loved shooting here in Miami," said Bratt. "There's a sensual vibe here that's like nowhere else."

Actress Tika Sumpter is back again as Ben's fiancee Angela.

Olivia Munn joins the cast as a Miami homicide detective.

"It feels like I was at a family pool party every day and that's how it was on the set," said Munn. "You kind of feel that this experience is what you hope for in life, you know ?

This world premiere event was filled with stars and media outlets from everywhere. Everyone clamoring for a shot of the stars.

Ride Along 2 opens in theaters January 15th.
