MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Relief is finally on the way from all of the relentless heat and humidity.

Temperatures in South Florida have been running well above normal so far this fall season but there's a change coming.

The coolest air of the season is headed our way just in time for the weekend.

A strong cold front will bring in dryer and cooler air. Temperatures are expected to drop 10 to 15 degrees.

The weekend forecast calls for temperatures to be slightly below normal overnight with some areas dipping into the lower 50s well Inland. Afternoon highs on Saturday will be in the low to mid 70s with a cool breeze and on Sunday the upper 70s.

Don't expect the cooler highs in the 70s to last long as warmth returns for Christmas week.

The first day of Winter is December 22nd.
