HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Several people were injured outside of a Hollywood resort when officials said wind sent construction materials tumbling off the roof.

Hollywood Fire Rescue and Hollywood Police responded to the Diplomat Resort & Spa Monday afternoon.

According to fire rescue, a gust of wind caught a protective net put in place to protect patrons from falling debris. Instead, the wind sent the materials flying down below.

Construction workers cleared up the materials that had apparently fallen on a red vehicle parked up front and on a taxi.

The extent of the damage to those two vehicles is not known, but the taxi was towed away.

Hollywood Police closed the street off to traffic while the workers cleaned up.

The Diplomat released a statement on the incident late Monday evening that shed light on the number of people injured. It read, in part:

Four people were injured with non-life-threatening injuries. Two were treated and released at the scene while two others with minor injuries were transported to the hospital. Our thoughts are with them for a full and speedy recovery.

The hotel went on to say they are working closely with authorities to determine the exact cause of the accident and have launched an investigation.
