Canes To Pay Homage To Military At Virginia Game

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) - The University Of Miami Hurricanes will suit up in their "Military Appreciation Day" uniforms this Saturday for their game against Virginia.

The Canes' uniforms, which pay homage to the nation's military and veterans, will consist of black jerseys, pants and helmets, khaki socks and camouflage gloves.

Miami is also donating 1,000 tickets to the game to veterans and active military members.

The game-used jerseys and helmets will be auctioned postgame, with all proceeds to benefit the Miami VA Healthcare System and Fisher House — the VA's facility that provides free housing for families of those receiving care at the nearby Bruce W. Carter Medical Center.
