HIALEAH GARDENS (CBSMiami) - Miami-Dade Police arrested a man they say using credit card skimming devices to steal card information from people at the pump.
Anthony Nunovero, 28, was taken into custody Thursday morning at his home on NW 87th Court and 112th Street.
Detectives from the Economic Crime Bureau said Nunovero had been installing credit card skimmers at gas stations across South Florida, then using the stolen card numbers to create counterfeit cards.
"We caught him red handed with the equipment needed to make and facilitate inline skimmers for fuel pumps," said Detective Marcos Rodriguez. "So when customers come and use their credit card or debit card, their credit card or debit card is being recorded in the memory chip."
Nunovero is facing multiple charges including organized scheme to defraud, credit card forgery, and possession of credit card making equipment.
Detectives believe Nunovero stole approximately 2,000 credit and debit card numbers.
