FLORIDA CITY (CBSMiami) - Miami-Dade Police are trying to figure out what led to the execution-style shooting death of a Florida City father.

Thirty-two year old Renaldo Clayton was shot and killed inside of his home at 1635 NW 1st Avenue Monday night.

A video released shows Clayton hours before his murder, when he was spending time with his 3-year old son in the front yard. His cousin Cynthia was there too.

"It's a perfect scene, perfect happy moment because his son was happy. He gave him the world," said Cynthia.

They said Clayton was born and raised in Florida City and worked in the Parks and Recreation Department. He was described as a hardworking man who had turned his life around to raise his son.

"Once he had his son, he stopped going to the clubs and decided to become a devoted father," said Clayton's brother Derrick.

"He loved his family. He just loved life," said Clayton's aunt Brenda Milton.

Family members said Clayton and his son had played some T-ball in the front yard on Monday before the boy's mother came and picked him up. They said Clayton went to the store and when he got home just before 10:00 pm, someone was waiting for him.

"From the looks of it somebody ambushed him, it looks like they waited for him to open the door and followed him in the house. I am very glad his son wasn't here because I'm pretty sure they would have killed him too," said Derrick Clayton. "He was a loving, caring person who didn't deserve this."

"Who ever was there had actually shot him in the mouth and execution style shot him in the head," said cousin Jeffrey McIntyre.

Meantime, family and friends mourn  his loss.

"We're broken hearted and he didn't deserve to go out this way.  No one's family member should go out this way," said Cynthia.

"This is just a tough situation for the whole community, he was loved by all these people," said Clayton's cousin Kim Hill.

Miami-Dade police are trying to determine if the the shooting was random or if Clayton was targeted.

"There has been random violence in this community for the last two weeks," said Hill. "We would know what was the cause of this. Whatever it was, it still won't bring him back to us. We don't want this to happen to any other family."
If you have any information call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
