PINECREST (CBSMiami) -- Have you ever hesitated to buy or sell something via classified ads online because of the inherent risk in dealing with strangers?

We've all heard the horror stories.

Now Pinecrest Police have stepped up to act as an intermediary for these kinds of online transactions.

Anyone looking to meet face-to-face with either a buyer or seller can go to the police station's first floor parking lot or use the third floor police station lobby to conduct a safe exchange of money and goods.

There's no need to call ahead and transactions can be arranged at any time between the buyer and seller. If the doors happen to be locked, you can notify the operator using the intercom button of the safe haven deal taking place.

Pinecrest Police hope their safe haven station will help deter criminals who target those responding to classified ads on places like Craigslist and other websites.

The Pinecrest Police Station is located at:

Pinecrest Municipal Center
12645 Pinecrest Parkway
Pinecrest, FL 33156
