LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) – Eight people have been arrested in Lauderhill accused of selling drugs, including the powerful street drug known as flakka.

Some of those arrested are allegedly part of a violent street gang.

The eight men faced a bond court judge Friday afternoon.

Mark Saint Davilas is accused of possessing flakka, racketeering and trying to sell near a school. He was given a bond of $36,100.

Ahmed Larro was charged with selling flakka and racketeering.

Freddie Hayes was also charged with racketeering and delivering flakka near a school. His bond was set at $70,000.

Robert Smith, identified as being an alleged gang member, was charged with racketeering, selling flakka near a school and violation of probation. He was given no bond on the probation violation.

Jarald Perry, 26, was charged with racketeering, cocaine possession and trying to sell marijuana near a school.  His bond was set at $31,000

Earnest Engram, 28, was denied bond on racketeering charges and selling flakka near a school.

Elton Jones faced ten charges including racketeering and attempting to distribute marijuana and flakka near a school.

Police also took 46-year-old David Lee Moore into custody.

"It does appear you are at the top of the pyramid," Bond court Judge John "Jay" Hurley told Moore.

Moore is charged with racketeering and is accused of being a major supplier of marijuana to lower level drug dealers. His bond was set at $260,000

Flakka has hit epidemic levels in Broward County.

The synthetic drug which acts as a powerful stimulant has been blamed for bizarre behavior like a man running naked through the streets and an incident where a man tried to break down the front door of the Fort Lauderdale police department.

Police say there will be more arrests.
