MIAMI (CBSMiami) - It's about that time, South Florida, as the state's back-to-school sales tax holiday is officially underway.

Florida's "tax-free holiday" for school supplies, clothing and some electronic equipment began at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 7th and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 16th.

During the 10-day sales tax-free holiday, shoppers don't have to pay sales tax on any clothes, shoes and certain accessories worth $100 or less, school supplies worth $15 or less or on the first $750 of a personal computer, when purchased for noncommercial home or personal use.

South Florida shoppers are actually enjoying looking closely at their receipts and seeing zeros where they'd normally pay tax.

"I got some shorts..some shoes," said one shopper.

"I hope I save a lot. I hope so. The taxes are pretty high. Save on that at least," said shopper Tony Santos.
