FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) -- An up to $3,000 reward is up for grabs for anyone who has information leading to the arrest of a man accused of armed sexual battery.

Authorities said the incident happened in Fort Lauderdale on August 3rd around 8:30 p.m., specifically in the 600 block of NW 3rd Avenue.

Fort Lauderdale Police told CBS4's Joan Murray the victim was walking to the store when they say the man dragged her at knife-point into an abandoned building and raped her just feet away from a daycare.

Police passed out flyers Friday in the neighborhood, hoping someone recognizes the man through a sketch they released.

"I didn't know him but I told the police I would call if I see him," said resident St Verdieu Fenelon.

According to Fort Lauderdale Police, the man may be known as Chris.

Investigators describe the man they are looking for as a black male in his 40s, about 5'9" in height and a medium build. He has brown eyes and a scar right under his left eye. He is also sporting an afro and has two gold teeth.

A teacher at the daycare near where the attack happened said she doesn't feel safe.

"It's scary we have children here," she said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Broward Crimestoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
