HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning after being found in a parking lot with a stab wound to the chest.

Inti Peralta Correa was found inside a white, four-door car in the Hollywood Police Department's parking lot with a stab wound.

According to police the man called 9-1-1 about 8:45 AM. His call threw the police department into chaos just as morning rush hour was ending.

"Officers received a call of a subject in the east parking lot of the Hollywood Police Department with a stab wound to his chest," said Officer Anthony Gonzalez with the Hollywood Police Department. "They observed a man with bloody hands, a bloody t-shirt and a knife sticking out of his chest."

While putting Peralta into an ambulance, they continued to search cars, going door to door at nearby homes looking for his family--as initial reports were that the man had hurt his family.

But, after checking reports, police said it appears his family seem to be okay.

"We made contact with family here in the State of Florida as well as outside the state of Florida. Everyone we made contact with have confirmed that everybody seems to be okay," Officer Gonzalez said.

Police are now trying to figure out a motive, what led to the call and the stabbing.

"We don't have that information right now. That's still being panned out. We don't know why he chose to come here to the Hollywood Police Department or why he said what he said," Gonzalez said.

The man was transported to Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital.

Checking on reports that the man harmed his family, officers checked other cars, even knocked on some doors but have since made contact with family in Florida, as well as out of state, and all have said they are okay.
