According to the police, the victim – a woman who has not been identified – was trying to cross NW 54th Street.

Nearby surveillance footage captured as the driver of a white 1987 Oldsmobile plowed into the woman.

The woman was reportedly dragged for 85 feet before her body came to rest and the driver fled the scene.

City of Miami Police issued a Be On The Lookout for the car.

Miami Police Sgt. Luis Taborda said an alert Miami-Dade Police officer spotted the vehicle authorities were looking for.

"The offending vehicle was stopped by the Miami Dade Police Dept. at the 5800 block of NE 163rd St.  He made it all the way up there," said Taborda.

Police identified the driver as 29-year-old Gustavo Sanchez.

Sanchez is facing one count of DUI manslaughter and one count of leaving the scene of a deadly crash.
