MIAMI LAKES (CBSMiami) — Former President Bill Clinton, Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton will touch on major global issues at a conference in South Florida this weekend.

The Clintons are in the sunshine state for the eighth annual Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) held at the University of Miami in Coral Gables.

Along with them, more than a thousand students from around the world will join innovators, thought-leaders, and civically-engaged celebrities to talk about taking on the biggest concerns to the millennial generation.

“This is basically a big conference for students all over the world who want to make a difference and have ideas about how they want to make that difference. So they come together and exchange ideas and ways to enhance those ideas to make the world a better place,” said UM student Guardiana Theloman.

During the three-day conference, they will exchange ideas about the future of energy, the power of big data to address global challenges, and peace-building in the Middle East and North Africa.

Young presenters are also excited about the possibility of meeting the event’s distinguished hosts.

“I don’t know what I would say! I’d probably be in shock the entire time. But first of all I’d like to thank them for giving us the opportunity to be here,” said UM student Faizah Shareef.

Bill Clinton was just at UM in December for the Summit of the Americas.

“I think I’m going to have to start paying rent at the University of Miami,” said Bill Clinton.

On Saturday afternoon, Hillary Clinton is set to speak. She’ll be joined by her daughter and her husband Bill Clinton.

Television host and comedian Larry Wilmore will moderate the conversation between them and other guests.

Former President Clinton is set to speak to students on Sunday.  President Clinton and Chelsea Clinton are both scheduled to help with community service projects in Liberty City.

While these students are focused on the future, the past is plaguing the Clintons right now specifically, Hillary Clinton’s old emails from her time as Secretary of State.

Her use of a private email account rather than a government-run address has raised questions about transparency – an issue that could impact a possible run for the White House in 2016.
