HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – Friends and family honored slain journalist Steven Sotloff during an obstacle race in Hialeah over the weekend.

Leaders of the BattleFrog obstacle race group and the Steven Sotloff Memorial Foundation came together at Amelia Earhart Park to race for a good cause.

Sotloff’s family created the foundation in support of other journalists and their families affected by the realities of reporting from conflict torn regions around the world.

“The mission of the 2Lives Foundation is to provide scholarships for journalism students and liberal arts students that are looking to seek a career in journalism, just as Steven Sotloff did.
