CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) —  Crews rushed a South Florida student to the hospital on Friday after a car slammed into him.

Coral Gables Police said University of Miami student Matthew Wisehaupt, 20, was crossing the street,using the crosswalk, near San Amaro Drive and Albenga Avenue just after 3 p.m.

That’s when, police said, a 2015 gray Audi slammed into him.

Authorities said the 16-year old driver remained at the scene and spoke to investigators.

Wisehaupt was taken to Kendall Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
