66-Year-Old Inmate Found Dead In Sarasota Jail

SARASOTA (CBSMiami/AP) — A jail inmate was found dead in his cell on Saturday, according to Sarasota authorities.

Staff found Jeffrey L. Young lying in his cell unresponsive on Saturday, a day after his 66th birthday. Rescuers tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said Young suffered from numerous ongoing medical issues and was being housed in the infirmary.

No other details were released.
