All 88 Miss Universe contestants were on hand to support their boss on this big debut.
“That set a record for the most beautiful gallery in history. I guarantee you, no matter what sport , it was the best looking gallery in history of any sport, it was pretty cool,” said Trump, referring to the beautiful women who lined the first tee.
Trump bought the property formerly known as Doral Golf Resort and Spa back in 2012. Since its acquisition, the Trump family has invested $250 million to restore the iconic property. It’s also home to the famed Blue Monster golf course.
“We’re very honored and Trump National Doral is the hottest resort in the country and we spent a lot of money so everything is brand new. The clubhouse is new, new suites and all the new golf courses,” he said.READ MORE: South Florida family knows firsthand effects of nationwide baby formula shortage
The Red Tiger is set on 120 acres of carefully landscaped beauty.
For Trump – a passionate golfer – said seeing this resort have a second life is a thrill.
“It’s been a labor of love for everyone here. We have thousands of people and now it’s open and we are getting great reviews. It’s wonderful and it’s great to have you here,” Trump said to CBS4’s Lisa Petrillo.
Never shying from politics, Petrillo asked him about currents events – namely France.
“Well we have to be tough and vigilant and strong, but it’s a crazy world and there has never been a world like this. You used to have an enemy and they would be in a uniform. They’re not now, so we have to be smarter than ever before and tougher,” Trump said.
