MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It's no secret that when the Miami Marlins acquired Dan Haren in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the veteran pitcher had no intention of leaving the west coast to play for a team far away from his family.

Haren struggled with being away from his loved ones while he pitched for the Washington Nationals in 2013 and has no desire to go through that again.

In the time since the trade Miami has actively tried to find a suitable trade partner out west for Haren, but with so few teams on the list of possibilities it hasn't been the easiest situation.

Up until now, it hasn't been clear what decision Haren would make should the Marlins not find a team willing to make a trade. Retirement has been an option for Haren but should he go that route he would forgo the $10 million that he's due to make in 2015.

The Marlins have remained hopeful that Haren would reconsider pitching in Miami this season, and it seems that the 34-year-old pitcher may be coming around.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, Haren is planning on reporting to Spring Training with the Marlins when pitchers and catchers arrive on February 20th.

While he is still hopeful that Miami will be able to trade him out west, it seems that Haren is open to the possibility of continuing his career with the Marlins.

Last season Haren pitched to a 13-11 record with Los Angeles, posting a 4.02 ERA in 186 innings.

Should he stick with the Marlins, Haren will join Mat Latos, Henderson Alvarez, Jarred Cosart, Tom Koehler and Brad Hand in what would be one of the better rotations in the National League.  Add to that former Rookie of the Year Jose Fernandez, who is expected to return from Tommy John Surgery mid-season, and Miami could really do some damage in 2015.
