FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A former Broward School Board member convicted of official misconduct has been denied bond.

Stephanie Kraft went before a judge Tuesday requesting that she be released until her sentencing next week.

Kraft was found guilty last week of using her position on the School Board to benefit developers of a housing project who had hired her husband as a consultant.

Prosecutors contend the Krafts helped the developers obtain a $500,000 break on impact fees one of their housing projects had to pay to the school district. In return, they allegedly accepted $10,000 from the developers.

Mitch Kraft has pleaded not guilty and will stand trial separately.

Stephanie Kraft is looking at a maximum of five years in prison when she’s sentenced on December 22nd.
