MIAMI (CBSMiami) – One person was taken into custody after police followed a stolen car from Miami to Miramar then moved in to make an arrest.

A Miami-Dade police officer began following a dark blue Maserati at a distance after the tag on it came back with a stolen Canadian license plate. A Miami-Dade police helicopter was also launched to follow the vehicle.

Chopper4 over the stolen car watched as it drove at a high rate of speed north on I-95 and then exited at Hallandale Beach Boulevard and headed west, ziz zagging through several neighborhoods and through school zones.

Miramar police were alerted to the situation and officers which had been following the car backed off when it entered the city's limits, according to Miramar police spokeswoman Tania Rues.

At one point the car stopped in a residential neighborhood under trees. Two men were seen running out of the car and up to a home. Then turned around and ran back toward the car. It's not clear if they both got back into the car, but at least one did and took off in the Maserati.

The car came to a stop at a townhome complex at Palm Avenue and Pembroke Road where at least one of the suspects bailed out and ran into the surrounding neighborhood.

Miramar officers closed in on that suspect between two homes at 2610 Riverdale Drive.

"Someone said let me in let me in," said neighbor Terry wiggins who heard the suspect frantically knocking on homes. "My wife and I both became very uncalm about it, very nervous because we didn't know if he would get in."

An unidentified neighbor says the suspect tried to get in through her back door. She was terrified.

"I was shaking because the helicopter was over my room and I'm very sick, and I heard the person screaming that he was back there," she told CBS4's Natalia Zea.

Police used a stun gun to take the suspect into custody. Police have identified him as 26-year old Delroy Roach.

He's been charged with Grand Theft, Reckless Driving, Fleeing Law Enforcement and Resisting Arrest. Turns out the Maserati had been reported stolen out of Palm Beach County.

A second person who was in the car remains on the loose.
