MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami/AP) — People living in this country illegally, who want to take advantage of the president's move to temporarily lift the threat of deportation, are being urged to start getting their papers and documentation together now.

Attorney Tammy Fox-Isicoff says even though millions of those eligible for relief won't be able to apply for another six months, they should start now because it can be tricky to find the right evidence to show things like continuous U.S. residence.

Youth especially may need to request old school records and other harder to obtain evidence. At a round table hosted by St. Thomas University Law School, attorney John Pratt also cautioned those who've had brushes with the law to contact an immigration lawyer to avoid any related pitfalls related to their past cases.
