BIG PINE KEY (CBSMiami) -- A Florida Keys man is facing charges for stealing from a local church while serving community hours, according to Monroe County Sheriff's deputies.

Deputies arrested 22-year old Brian Sheppard on Wednesday after a pastor noticed items missing from his church, Vineyard Community Church, located in Big Pine Key.

On November 24th, the  pastor noticed the items were missing including computer equipment, an air compressor, Nintendo controllers and two recurve bows.

The pastor then sent his son to a local pawn shop, Molly's Pawn and More, where they found the missing items.

Authorities said they found out from the pawn shop the items had been brought in by Sheppard.

During an interview with detectives, they said Sheppard admitted to taking the items and pawning them while he was on probation and working community service at the church between August and October.

Sheppard is facing charges of grand theft, dealing in stolen property and fraud.
