MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hungry for some Hunger Games? Fans of the blockbuster phenomenon can finally quench their hunger as Mockingjay Part 1 opens in theaters Friday.

In the latest installment of this highly anticipated thriller, it's a whole new world for Katniss Everdeen where the games have been destroyed for good but the fight to survive is stronger than ever. Katniss must put everything she has to go against the evil Capitol and to save her friend Peeta.

Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss, has loved the power of her character ever since she first read Suzanne Collins' books.

"Something I love about the books when I first read them is how powerful one voice can be. It's scary. It easier to go along with what's more popular. It's scary to stand up to a voice that's bigger than yours, explained Lawrence.

In this movie, all the relationships from the past have changed. Trust is questioned. Katniss blames her old friend Haymitch for the disappearance of her beloved Peeta.

"A lot of old relationships are changing and there's new cast members also forging new relationships," she said.

Two new members to the cast this year and on team Katniss are Mahershala Ali who plays Boggs and Natalie Dormer who plays Cressida. They  filmed  both Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2, back to back.

Part 2 will be released next year.

Petrillo spoke one on one with Ali and Dormer about what it was like to be the newbies on the set.

"Once action was called, the way Jennifer would just drop right in was, at first, it was a little unsettling. I didn't know right away how to adjust to that. It took a second but after that I had a blast," said Ali.

When asked why this movie has captured audiences all over the world, Dormer replied, "It doesn't speak down to its younger adolescent audiences. "We try to be as faithful to Suzanne Collins's source material as possible and there are big political and social themes, there's the mass struggle as well as individual human struggle as well."

Both actors are excited for the movie to open and for the attention they are now receiving.

"I can kind of taste of the craziness. I can see it now. It's exciting to be a part of this wonderful fan base," said Ali laughingly.

Boggs thoroughly enjoyed working on the films as well.

"It's a family, it's 9 months shooting the two films, that's nearly a year so we did get really close," said Boggs.

Mockingjay Part 1 is out in theaters now.
