Low Cost Carrier Coming To MIA

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - For the first time in more than two years, Miami International Airport will have domestic low cost service.

Denver-based Frontier Airlines will set up shop on December 20th.

The carrier will provide non-stop flights to Denver, Philadelphia, New York and Chicago.

On Tuesday, Frontier Airlines officially mad the announcement and offered one day sale of tickets on certain dates for $14.99 each way at FlyFrontier.com.

Introductory one way fares starting at $59 will be on sale through October 6th.

"We welcome the arrival of Frontier Airlines at MIA and are thrilled to offer our customers this fantastic low fare option to leading U.S. destinations," said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. González in a statement. "Frontier is not new to South Florida, but their strong lineup of flights from MIA – nearly 40 each week – makes it clear that Miami is key to their future growth plans in the region."

Frontier also provides low fare flights from Fort Lauderdale to Cincinnati, Cleveland, St. Louis, Trenton, N.J., and Washington.
