Former Miami Firefighter Sentenced In Child Porn Case

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - A former Miami fighter convicted on six counts of child pornography has been sentenced to nearly three decades in prison.

U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore gave 31-year old Alexander Rousseau to 327 months in prison, or a little more than 27 years.

Rousseau was found guilty of five counts of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Beginning at least as early as 2010, Rousseau downloaded, viewed, and shared videos of child pornography over peer-to-peer file sharing networks, according to investigators.

Rousseau reportedly downloaded the videos on his personal computer while he was on duty at various City of Miami Fire Stations. When he was arrested in April of 2014, Rousseau had approximately 120 child pornography videos on his computer, many of which were more than five minutes in length.

After his release from incarceration, Rousseau will remain on supervised release for the rest of his life. He will also be required to attend counseling and will be included on sexual offender registries in Florida and nationwide.
