Dad Dead In River, Daughter's Body Found In Home

FORT MYERS (CBSMIAMI/AP) - Lee County authorities are investigating the death of a little girl and her father in southwest Florida.

Monday morning, the sheriff's deputies found a car with its hazard lights flashing, blocking a road near a river.  Authorities could not find the driver, so they checked the license plate and found it belonged to 34-year-old John Medina.

The deputies went to Medina's home and found his 4-year-old daughter's body. Investigators have not released details as to how Sophie Medina died, but a death investigation is underway.

On Sunday, a boater found John Medina's body decomposing body floating in the Caloosahatchee River near Fort Myers.

Dive teams searched the area between the Edison and Caloosahatchee bridges for evidence.
