Double Shooting In SW Miami-Dade Leaves One Person Dead

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – One man is dead and a second man is injured after a family dispute turned deadly in Homestead.

Family members told CBS4 there was a shoot-out inside a Homestead apartment on SW 288 Street while a two-year-old was inside.

Late Saturday night, Miami-Dade police continued to investigate a shooting at an apartment complex near Homestead.

The niece of one of the two men involved told CBS4 there was an exchange of gunfire inside an apartment, but didn't want her face or name shown.

"(My uncle) came here to drop of (his) grand-daughter, and from what I'm aware of, the other guy, he started shooting," said the woman.

She said her uncle, a Hispanic man in his 50s, was killed.

The woman claims he was shot by his son-in-law and added that there was bad blood between her uncle and his son-in-law.

Police said a woman and two-year-old child were also in the apartment during the shooting, but were not hurt.

The other man involved in the shooting is a man in his 20s. He was airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center.

The man who was killed, leaves behind three daughters and a wife.

"Devastating, it's really sad," said the man's niece. "They are heartbroken."

Police confirmed the shooting started out as a domestic dispute but were still investigating who shot who.
