Davie Man Arrested For Child Porn & Child Neglect

DAVIE (CBSMiami) --Police arrested a Davie man accused of downloading child pornography and allowing three young children to live in filth.

Michael Salisbury, 35, a longshoreman, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly possessing more than a dozen computer files of child pornography but when officers arrive at his home they found something else.

When officers went to arrest Salisbury at his home, according to the arrest report, they smelled an "extremely foul odor of feces coming from inside the residence."

The report states "there was piles of feces through out the residence."  There was also food through out the floor of the home as well as exposed wires within the reach of three children inside the home ages 5, 9, and 11 , according to the report.

One of the officers conducted an investigation on one of the computers located inside Salisbury's room and found two child porn images of young girl, "about 12-years old."

Officers said Salisbury allegedly admitted to downloading pornography, but stated "he only looked for adult pornography."

According to the report officers also found "three baggies with a green leafy substance," in Salisbury's bedroom which tested positive for cannabis.

Salisbury faces two charges of possessing child porn, three charges of child neglect and one charge of cannabis possession.

Salisbury is being held on a bond of more than $20,000. It's not clear if he'll make bond Wednesday evening.

As for the children, they are in a relatives care after a judge ordered them to be removed at a shelter hearing on Wednesday. Both parents are not allowed to have contact with the children until next Tuesday due to an ongoing investigation.

"Right now, in the court's opinion the children are in a much better off situation without contact with you. I'm not trying to be insulting because these are only allegations but right now based on the environment that they were in, not only what you allegedly had on your computer but the lack of care for the children -- the mess, the garbage, the wires, everything, I don't think it's a good situation," said Broward County Circuit Court Judge John Hurley at the hearing.

CBS4's Carey Codd learned the mother of the children does not reside at Salisbury's home.

Once an investigation is done, the judge granted the mother daytime unsupervised visits in a public place or a place approved by the Department of Children and Families (DCF).

According the DCF, the parents have no prior history with them.

Broward Sheriff's Office Child Protective Services also have an open investigation into the case.

An arraignment for the dependency case is set for September 12th .
