FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Things got a little hot the popular Bimini Boatyard Bar & Grill during the lunch service.

Ft. Lauderdale Fire Rescue said they originally got a call about a boat on fire behind the restaurant at 1535 SE 17th Street. While en route to the call, multiple calls were received stating that the fire was in the restaurant’s kitchen.

When units arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the exhaust pipes on the roof. Fire officials said the fire, which had started in the kitchen, got into the ventilation system. The restaurant was evacuated.

A second fire unit was requested and firefighters were able to put out the flames.

No injuries were reported.
