Disney Adds New Event To Marathon Weekend
LAKE BUENA VISTA (CBSMiami/AP) — There will be a new event for runners to take part in at the next Walt Disney World marathon weekend.
Registration opens May 23 for the 5K Disney Castaway Cay Challenge, which will be available for the first time in 2015. A joint venture by runDisney and Disney Cruise Line, it will take place Jan. 14, three days after the main Disney Marathon Weekend, which includes the annual 5K, 10K, half-marathon and full marathon events.
The special Castaway Cay 5K will take place on Disney Cruise Line's private Bahamas Island. It is part of the four-night Disney Dream Cruise itinerary that sails form Port Canaveral Jan. 12.
Every runner who finishes this new even will earn two medals — an inaugural Disney Castaway Cay Challenge media and a Castaway Challenge medallion.
