Local Designers Called On To Design New Eastern Air Lines Flight Attendant Uniforms

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – In the spirit of fashion, and as one of the sponsors of Miami Beach Fashion Week, Eastern Air Lines and event coordinators are calling on local designers to compete to design the company's new flight attendant uniforms.

The new Eastern Air Lines, which is trying to re-launch as a passenger airline with its main base at Miami International Airport, is one of the sponsors of Miami Fashion Week 2014, which will take place from May 15th to the 18th at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

The airlines announced earlier this year that it plans to launch service from its MIA base, in Building 5A which is where the former Eastern Air Lines had its operation center.

As part of the sponsorship--and in the spirit of fashion--Miami Fashion Week 2014 has called-on a competition among Miami-based fashion designers to design the company's new flight attendant uniforms.

"To be part of the re-launch of Eastern Air Lines is very exciting for Miami Fashion Week and our locally based designers. Having the opportunity to design the new flight attendant uniforms, and be associated with such an iconic brand is a tremendous honor for us," said Beth Sobol, Founder and President of Miami Fashion Week in a press release

The company has applied to the United States Department of Transportation for a certificate of public convenience and necessity and plans to start its required certification with the Federal Aviation Administration.
