Teens Injured When Inner Tube Hits Piling

FT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – Two teenage girls are recovering after the inner tube they were riding hit a piling Friday night around 7 p.m.

The accident took place in a canal near the Intracoastal Waterway according to fire rescue officials and the Sun Sentinel.

Five teenage boys were on a 2014, 19-foot Boston Whaler that was making a turn at about 20 mph when according to the boys on the boat, the throttle and steering locked up.

The three girls on the inner tube hit the piling as it swung around.

Two of the girls, ages 14 and 15, received non-life-threatening injuries fire officials told the paper.
