VP Biden To Deliver Commencement Speech At MDC

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Vice President Joe Biden is coming to South Florida in May to deliver the commencement address at Miami-Dade College's graduation ceremonies.

Biden will join other distinguished leaders who will address nearly 15,000 graduates during the commencement exercises on Saturday, May 3rd, 2014.

Other speakers will come from top universities and philanthropic organizations from across the country.

Speaking at the day's first ceremony for the Wolfson and Hialeah Campuses is J.B. Milliken, President, University of Nebraska and President-Elect, City University of New York.

The next commencement, for the InterAmerican and Homestead Campuses, is the graduation where Vice President Biden will speak and where Ángel Cabrera, President, George Mason University, will be conferred a special honorary degree.

John Sexton, President of New York University will address graduates during the North Campus and West ceremony.

The Medical Campus ceremony will feature Darren Walker, President of the Ford Foundation.

The final speaker of the day is Richard Brodhead, President of Duke University.

Each of the distinguished speakers will receive an honorary degree from Miami Dade College.

Students will graduate in five special exercises representing the College's seven campuses and two outreach centers.
