All-Clear Given After Bomb Squad Investigates Unattended Backpack At Sony Open

KEY BISCAYNE - Bomb squad has investigated, and given the all-clear, after an unattended backpack was found at the entrance of the Sony Open on Key Biscayne Tuesday night.

Personnel working at the tennis tournament, according to Miami Dade Police Department, alerted police of an unattended bag located outside the tournament entrance.

Most of the people at the match, unless they were on Twitter, had no idea what was going on.

The bag was right in front of the main gate. Next to the backpack was a bottle of water and a tri-rail map.

MDPD's Bomb Squad Unit was notified and was dropped off at Key Biscayne Village Park via helicopter. They were then taken by Key Biscayne Police Cruiser directly to the site to asses the package.

In order to prevent anyone from leaving that might need to be questioned, all pedestrian and vehicle movement in the immediate area was stopped while the bag was investigated.
